Black is the stereotypical standard for the fashion community. When done well, its utilitarian elegance, authority and eroticism are immediately conveyed. However, an almost all-black collection risks looking pretentious, which is eternally unfashionable. DSTM’s pitch-perfect presentation demonstrated their ability to masterfully meet the challenge of being Berlin’s main all-black, leather and silk based label. They managed to present a strong, intellectual and sexy line which is also approachable, highly-wearable and emanates integrity. The cuts were graceful and feminine, flatteringly skimming the body, while the fabrics were sensual but not impractical. By inviting local lights such model/painter Ulrike Theusner and pin-up icon Eden Berlin to model the first round of looks, DSTM secured itself as a home-ground Berlin-brand without affectation or cliché.
