S/S 12 for Stephan Pelger is almost Christmas-themed. He wrapped his models’ generous bodies in bows and sparkly decorations. Plum and evergreen silks were as pretty and enticing as fancy ribbons. Sashes and gathered drapery gave the impression of high-end gift wrapping. The clusters of crystals on dress collars and the calves of sheer stockings were festive. However, a series of ill-fitted and stiff white net trousers and pencil-skirts looked like last-minute packaging. All of this nicely presented the treats underneath. Besides the naturally lush Sara Nuru and Shermine Shahrivar, the models themselves were a fun surprise, with more plastic parts than Barbie’s Dream House. These Amazonian dolls were a jolly thrill on the catwalk. Pelger’s collection can make any eve exciting.
