The Schumacher catwalk, painted to resemble a solid slab of weathered concrete, perfectly contrasted the array of soft, floating city-wear wafting on its surface. A few arresting neon yellow and electric peach pieces seized attention but the prevailing mood was light and forgiving. Few garments grabbed the body. Almost everything was oversized and remarkably accessible. These are clothes that women are happy to have in their closets. They are realistic and secure. However, one neon yellow, sheer, evening gown evoked the raw desire of an affair while the rest of the show emanated the sweet stability of a long-term relationship. That single dress, worn insolently by Schumacher’s Luca Gadjus, added a shot of danger, raw sex-appeal and urban edge to the collection’s overall soft domesticity.
