Hien Le’s collection is crisp, clean and vibrant. He favours intense shades of primary colors and contrasting neutrals. His training as a tailor is evident in his classic, unpretentious and well crafted cuts. It is not initially clear why such a solid but unassuming line needs a catwalk since the main statement Hien Le makes each season is continued reliability and aesthetic integrity. Catwalks best serve designers with a more theatrical sensibility. Yet, watching models move in Hien Le’s nicely sewn garments is a welcome reminder that clothes ultimately beg to be worn. His make an effortless transition from runway to reality.
