It’s all about presentation. The almost surgical quality of the white-cube runway at the tent might be an appropriate background for most labels’ shows. For Augustin Teboul, however, that just won’t cut it.
Instead of a runway show, the design duo opted for a performance featuring black-clad models each performing a unique character that sprung from the designs. The show was well executed and not obnoxious–which most “performances” usually are. The eternally black womenswear collection featured mesh and lace pieces always intertwined with leather applications and pieces.
Augustin Teboul’s women are daring and strong. The cropped leather laced trousers and long dresses with see-through mesh details were an elegantly edgy sighting. Tight leather pencil skirts were paired with oversized tops and topped with details like headphones, headscarves and large headpieces, creating a contrast between reality and dream. The sartorial struggle between the fantasy and the real was a constant reminder of the brands highly conceptual philosophy and masterful execution.
