The glamorous style of First Wives and aspirants for alimony was championed with vigor on Rena Lange’s A/W12 catwalk. The consistently lady-like label switched its focus from the subtly timeless Parisian chic of ladies nibbling in cafes to a sexy eighties’ era evocation of ladies lunching at Bergdorf in Ungaro and Lacroix. Micro-minis in archetypical jewel tones (ruby, turquoise and jade) sparked with sequins and beads. White princess blouses had gold heart-shaped inlays. A few fringes recalled Dynasty’s decadence. The golden-hearted cuties on the catwalk also wore their hearts on their black velvet skirts. A stunning sheer black cutout gown with shimmering fauna patterns along the arms and ribs would suit Jerry Hall or any red-carpet crawler. It is an unquestionable upscale collection.
