Patrick Mohr has a history of turning fashion shows into halloween specials. More than a few times have models come down the runway wearing strange prosthetics and torturous silicone applications, not to mention the use of particular ethnicities (think African Albino) as a spectacle number.
This season, however, instead of shocking or mocking, Patrick Mohr's collection had a great undertone to it all. The audience's collective sigh of relief as the opening number walked down the runway—an Audrey Hepburn-esque look (gloves, cape, beret, the lot)—was the sign of a different style for the designer. The men were more casual than the women. Boys wore signature sneakers in bright read and blue whilst wearing easy-fitting pull-overs and oversized trousers in matching fabrics. The more elegantly clad women suggested a more dominant role: marching on the way to their corner offices in chunky pumps and full-length coats with accentuating belts and scarves. Overall, the cohesiveness of the line was satisfactory, the fabrics tasteful and useful, and the looks properly styled. And using models from planet Earth definitely helped to build a dynamic where the clothes were the driving force of each piece without the need of a grotesque gimmick.
