mongrels in common a/w 12

In the past, Mongrels in Common created some striking collections organised around cultural and creative juxtaposition. This season, however, was a mush of formless garments and fuzzy direction. The theme was "Stevie Wonder Land." The concept of a blind, black genius trapped in the cold was intriguing, but unrelated to the flurry of bland, black Zoot-suits, cocktail dresses and skirts with diamond shaped in-lays paring textures. In contrast to the unsuccessful black pieces, there were pretty silky evening gowns and little dresses in muted pastel marble patterns. There was no clear conceptual foundation for these lovely garments, but they can easily be invited in from the cold.
