This season Mohr is less. My head is still splitting from the experience, but only because the experimental noise-music was drilling into my ear canal. In contrast, the visual impact was radically underwhelming. Patrick Mohr is best known for overwrought and over-the-top shock tactic. In past seasons, he presented transsexual body-builders, models covered in flesh-colored make-up, snails and homeless, mentally-ill models. All these elements were still present this time. The male and female models wore the dregs of theatrical skin-coloured clay in their mouths. Otherwise, they were naturally styled. Their uniform, long slicked back hair was gender-neutral, thereby recalling Mohr’s retro-nineties obsession with underlining gender distinctions. And the drag, baggy, geometrically cut coats at least looked like they’d be warm enough for the models in Mohr’s past shows who are still sleeping rough. I hate to admit this: but given the choice between Mohr or less, I miss having a real reason for my head to hurt.
