naked fashion

irene luft at bebelplatz

I like breasts but I would have lost the rest of the Irene Luft show. The show consisted of stiff, sheer tops and thighhighs. Teenage boys would have been overjoyed but too many designers use flashes of nudity to signal irreverence and insidery intimacy with their audiences. It is a tired trick than no longer distracts from weak design. Luft added to the rouse with Dr. Seuss-esque towers atop the models heads and an exclusively black collection. Instead of struggling to appear daring, she should have focused on elegant fabrics, less rhinestones, and garments that fit the models regardless of how much flesh was revealed. Nudity in Berlin is otherwise know as Tuesday. What we need from our designers is less transparency and more intellectual integrity!
