There is a lot of responsibility to being Boss. Each season, tickets to Hugo Boss’s catwalk shows and lavish after-parties are not scarce but still coveted as the sure-fire ritziest Fashion Week event.However, the clothes are usually inconsequential. This season was exceptional. The event at Neue Nationalgalerie was typical Boss with Tilda Swinton, Chloe Sevigny and countless German celebrities on the front row. And the collection and catwalk show demonstrated why Boss deserves its authority on the Berlin scene. Freja Beha Erichsen opened the show with her appropriately authoritative stride. She was followed by a stream of sleek models with smooth, straight, glossy hair and radiantly red lips. The clothes were predominantly black with a Helmut Newton sensibility. Forgoing theatrics for authentic elegance, the final look on Erichsen was a sumptuous black leather tulip skirt and graceful black blouse. It was a look that commanded and earned respect.
